Jin Joo Hong claimed her first and only KLPGA Tour title last year, after an epic play off that ended under a floodlit 88cc last year. Unfortunately, she has struggled to build on her maiden victory, and realistically it would be a huge upset if she was to repeat the feat.
Last week’s Seri Pak Invitational champion Jeong Eun Lee will headline, as she bids to win her fifth title this season. The only players really left to challenge Lee for the end of season honors are Ji Hyun Kim, Hae Rym Kim (who plays in Japan this week) and Jin Young Ko, who has being playing some exceptional golf lately.
Lee, who is sponsored by Fantom produced one of the greatest rounds in KLPGA history, when she shot a 60 (-12) on her way to a convincing win, that host Seri Pak would have been proud of. She will be the one to beat at 88cc, but Jin Young Ko is not too far behind.
Jin Young Ko certainly has the talent and experience to win at least one more time this season. If we were forced into a prediction, two more victories for Ko in the next 10 weeks is a real possibility. It may just be one more victory in 9 weeks by this Sunday evening…
