What better place to see a showdown between Ha Neul Kim and Bo Mee Lee than the 50th anniversary of the JLPGA Championship. Kim has been the dominant player of 2017, taking over the reigns from Lee, but Bo Mee has been back in form of late and it is all set up for the popular duo to go head to head this week.
There has been seven Korean ladies who have won in Japan this year (actually eight, but Hae Rym Kim is playing on the KLPGA Tour this week). Ha Neul’s hat-trick leads the way, with Rookie of the Year elect Min Young Lee one behind Sky. Bo Mee, Sun Ju Ahn, Mi Jeong Jeon, Soo Yun Kang and Jiyai Shin will all be hoping to double their tally this week and certainly have realistic hopes of achieving this.
Although not exactly lighting it up on the course, Shinae Ahn looks more comfortable playing in Japan rather than Korea. Ahn has so many off the course media obligations that have clearly had an effect on her performances. Maybe she can rectify this at the biggest tournament of the year on the JLPGA Tour?
