It’s been a real struggle this season for the Korean players on the Japan Tour. After raking up the victories last year, they are yet to record a single win in 2017. This week’s leaderboard is a fair reflection of how – T-15th for Junggon Hwang and Hyun Woo Ryu was the best twenty one Koreans could muster this week.
One shot worse off than Hwang and Ryu was Doo Hwan Bang, who led after the first day. He had to settle for a T-24th finish.
Next week sees Min Gyu Cho defend his Fujisankei Classic title. Cho hasn’t done much since then, but will have some added confidence due to the good memories from last year.
The week after, Junwon Park defends his ISPS Handa Matchplay trophy. It’s time to get off the mark for 2017 and this fortnight could redeem a very underwhelming season so far.
First up, I suppose I better say hello and thank you for visiting my website, whoever you are. I teach, I write, I caddy, I write, I travel, I write. Mostly, about golf if that interests you. Usually interviews for various publications and blog about my caddy adventures.
