KLPGA: Jin Young Ko Cruises To Victory in Jeju
After a underwhelming first half of the season, Jin Young Ko returned to the winners circle, with an impressive four shot victory, at the Jeju Samdasoo Masters. This emphatic win should be the catalyst for Ko to get back to where she belongs, contending on a weekly basis and challenging for the order of merit title at the end of the season.
Ko had been expected to dominate this season after Sung Hyun Parks departure, but with the emergence of numerous talented ladies, she was left frustrated and took a few weeks off from the game, after the Korea Women’s Open.
After stringing together eight birdies in a row on Saturday, Ko entered the final day one shot off the lead, held by Ji Hyun Oh. Oh, already a winner this season, could not maintain her lead and shot a four over par final round, to slide down the leaderboard.
Ko produced an opening round 67, followed up by a pair of 66’s to claim a comfortable four shot victory over Hae Rym Kim, who has been playing some phenomenal golf this year, resulting in three wins.
Jeong Eun Lee, who won her second title of the season at the MY Championship just before the mini break, finished T-3rd alongside Seung Hyun Lee.
With the tournament being sponsors by Jeju Samdasoo water, there wasn’t any shortage to throw over Ko- as is tradition in Korea!
