This week’s JLPGA tournament has the potential to produce a fascinating storyline on Sunday evening. Jiyai Shin has won this event for the past three years, while Ha Neul Kim has won three times since the end of April.
Kim has already recorded recent back to back wins and is certainly a strong contender to complete this feat again this week. She is well clear on the 2017 JLPGA Order of Merit and has already matched her best ever season of three wins (twice on the KLPGA Tour), with the current one not even halfway through.
As Kim continues to excel, Bo Mee Lee continues to struggle, by the high standards she set and expects to meet. Lee has shown glimpses of form throughout 2017, but has failed to put a strong performance together for a full tournament. She needs a victory soon.
Of course it’s disrespectful to the field to assume that this will turn into a head to head duel between Shin and Kim, but it would be great to watch! Let’s just hope for another Korean in Japan!
