After ending her eight year drought for her first KLPGA win a few weeks ago, Ji Hyun Kim had to endure five playoff holes today, before eventually winning for the second time this season.
It took a 10 foot missed putt for par on the 18th from Jeong Eun Lee to hand the title to Kim, who rolled in her par putt from three feet. Golf once again proves how fascinating it is with two victories in quick succession for Kim, after an eight year wait.
Lee, who won the season opener on Jeju Island proved to be very tough playoff opponent, as the duo couldn’t be separated after playing the 18th four times. In spite of this loss, Lee is continuing to prove that she is one of the KLPGA top players and more victories are not far away.
Last week’s winner Ji Hyun Kim 2 finished strongly to grab third place to secure the bronze medal, yes there were medals… see below!
Ka Ram Choi, who shot an opening round 62 and was joint leader heading into the final round, was unable to keep pace with the leaders. However, a fourth place finish for Choi is her best result
A final round 66 for Jin Young Ko elevated her up to tied fifth place and match her best finish on the KLPGA Tour this year. With next week’s Korea Open taking place, Ko will take a lot of confidence from today and will be a strong contender to take the national title.
As I said earlier…
