I.K. Kim notched up her fifth LPGA Tour victory this week, with a two shot victory at the 54 hole Shoprite Ladies Classic. Kim, who struggled with injuries earlier this year, said that she felt ready for the busy summer ahead, but this win was not fully expected. There were inklings that her game is in better shape than last year, and this week backs up her comment.
Rounds of 65, 72 and 69 handed soon to be 29 year old Kim a two shot victory over defending champion Anna Nordqvist. Jeong Eun Lee and Jenny Shin finished in T-3rd.
Kim ended a six year drought without a victory on the LPGA Tour, last October by winning the Reignwood Classic, so this win is further proof that she is back in winning form. Let’s not forget that back in 2010, when she won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, she donated all of her winnings to charity. She certainly deserves every cent of the $225,000 from this week and is proof that nice people don’t always finish second!
