OK, let’s start off here with some honesty! If you expect me to know this week’s stand out player or even players, well it’s next to impossible! There are literally up to twenty ladies that can win this week, probably even more. The current strength of the LPGA Tour is unquestionable, which is why the only thing guarantee is world class golf and a worthy winner on Sunday.
Trying to narrow down this week’s strong contenders to a handful would mean neglecting some of the other players, who are just as likely to win. Research means nothing, it’s whoever brings their ‘A’ game, which means near flawless golf, will prevail.
Stick my neck on the line and try pick the winner? Hmmm, to state the obvious, defending champion Lydia Ko will not give up this title easily. She is the one to beat this week, probably… if someone finishes above her, she will probably win.
From a Korean perspective, OK, let me live on the edge a little…this could be the week that Sung Hyun Park steps up and claims her maiden LPGA title. She has opened up the year with 3rd and 13th place finishes, but my inkling is that Park is beginning to hit top form and this week (or next week’s Major) will see her come out on top.
I’m not going to finish this article without mentioning that In Gee Chun, Inbee Park, Ha Na Jang, So Yeon Ryu, Hyo Joo Kim or Sei Young Kim could easily win this week…The winner WILL come from one of the aforementioned, maybe…
